Hogyan juthatunk uniós információkhoz?

Az önkormányzati szférában nagy érdeklődés kíséri az uniós csatlakozási tárgyalásokat. Egyes önkormányzatok kedvező helyzetben vannak, mert nemzetközi partnerkapcsolataik révén közvetlen információkkal rendelkeznek. Az önkormányzati tisztségviselők, szakemberek többsége azonban kevés ismeretanyaggal bír. Az e témakörben megjelent kiadványok zöme is elsősorban az Európai Unióra (EU) vonatkozó általános ismereteket foglalta össze.
Arra való tekintettel, hogy a helyi önkormányzatok az Európai Unió jogszabályainak érvényesítői lesznek, mindenképpen szükséges, hogy kellő ismerettel rendelkezzenek az Unió működéséről, a helyi önkormányzatok feladat- és hatáskörébe tartozó kérdések terén az EU elvárásairól, követelményeiről, illetve azon lehetőségekről, amelyeket a csatlakozás nyújt.
Az ország egyes régióiban kialakult Európai Tanulmányi Központok, Regionális Információs Központokból, az egyes folyóiratokból beszerezhető információ mellett nagyon sok hasznos információhoz juthatnak az önkormányzati szakemberek az INTERNET-ről is. Az alábbiakban közzétett jegyzék azon legfontosabb címeket tartalmazza, ahonnét beszerezhetők az alapvető információk, amelyek az EU működésére, illetve az EU egyes ágazati politikáira vonatkoznak. Külön felhívjuk a figyelmet a PHARE címjegyzékre, amely az összes PHARE-programmal foglalkozó szervezet pontos elérhetőségi koordinátáit tartalmazza.
